The Microsoft Excel TRIM function is used to remove extra spaces from the text. That means with the TRIM function, you can able to strip additional spaces from the text string, which will leave only a single space between the words and no space characters at the start or end of the text.

It will return the specified text with extra spaces removed.

TRIM Function Syntax

= TRIM(text)

Where the arguments:

• text: It is the text string from where you want to remove the extra spaces.

How to Use the Microsoft Excel TRIM Function?

As we know, the TRIM function removes the extra spaces between the text, which will leave only a single space between the words with no space characters at the start and end of the text. The TRIM function is useful when you want to clean the texts that have been imported from other applications.

You can only remove the ASCII space character, which is 32, from the text. The Unicode text usually contains a text with non-breaking space characters that can't be removed by the TRIM function.
